Alternative House Mission & Vision

Alternative House, founded in 1972, provides support to at-risk children, youth and families through counseling, shelter, crisis intervention and neighborhood outreach.  Our programs recognize that families are interdependent and that a crisis or challenge facing one family member affects everyone.  We therefore empower children, teens and families to work together and build on their strengths.

Our Programs include:

• Community Outreach

• Assisting Young Mothers (AYM)

• Homeless Youth Initiative

A big thank you to Brickman Landscaping for sending volunteers out to our Emergency Shelter for Teenagers on June 25th to re-do our front flowerbed.  It looks beautiful!

Alternative House's 14th Annual Rock the House 8K Run was held on Sunday, June 13th.  Click here to see photos from our Run.   Thanks to all who participated and who volunteered!

At the moment we have an immediate need of full sized hygiene products.  Items such as deodorant, shampoo, conditioner, body lotion, soap / body wash, razors and shaving cream / gel (for males and females), hair styling products (for males and females), hair blow dryers, and hair flat irons. 

***For our AYM program -we are in need of 4 baby cribs that do not have "drop down" sides.
